Home ranges of rusa deer (

چکیده
Wild rusa deer (Cervus timorensis) are increasing in numbers and distribution peri-urban eastern Australia. To effectively manage deer, land managers need to know the extent of their movements determine appropriate scale control through trapping shooting. We found that a subtropical environment South East Queensland, four (three male, one female) with GPS collars annually ranged over areas <400 ha core ~100 period 10–17 months. Our limited data indicated relatively small home ranges varied little size location from season-to-season, suggesting these can be managed at local level.

Semen characteristics, extension, and cryopreservation of Rusa deer (Rusa timorensis)
AIM The objective of this research is to report parameters for breeding soundness evaluation, semen extension, and cryopreservation in Rusa timorensis. MATERIALS AND METHODS Seven healthy stags were chosen for semen collection using an electroejaculator. The collections were performed twice in a breeding season between February and June 2016. Samples were collected between 2 and 3 weeks inter...
متن کاملNITROGEN METABOLISM IN RUSA DEER (Cervus timorensis)
Dry matter intake, nitrogen intake, nitrogen digestibility, rumen ammonia-N and plasma urea-N concentration were measured in young rusa deer fed 4 diets containing 90 to 205 g/kg DM crude protein. The level of crude protein associated with maximal voluntary food intake and dry matter digestibility for these animals was found to be about 160 g/kg DM. Plasma urea-N was positively related to rumen...

Problem statement: Hybridization has potential benefits to the Malaysian farmed deer industries in terms of increased growth rate and increased proportion of muscle and an improved alignment of feed supply and annual energy requirement. Species or subspecies of different chromosome constitution could mate to produce healthy hybrid offspring in a normal ratio of males and females. If any of the ...
متن کاملForaging optimally for home ranges
Economic models predict behavior of animals based on the presumption that natural selection has shaped behaviors important to an animal’s fitness to maximize benefits over costs. Economic analyses have shown that territories of animals are structured by trade-offs between benefits gained from resources and costs of defending them. Intuitively, home ranges should be similarly structured, but tra...
